General didactic guidelines
The Arabic language reality is strongly characterized by diglossia. Dialect is used for oral and informal communication and high Arabic for formal and written communication. The course takes this into account by introducing the colloquial language of Cairo as well as the basics of modern high Arabic. The goal is to be able to use authentic language in simple everyday situations. Special attention is paid to cultural aspects.
In the course we learn the Arabic script, whereby we also use transliteration as an aid at the beginning.
