Rearrangement in the basement and on the upper floor
Several of our collections are running out of space, therefore we began in spring to relocate collections in the basement and on the first floor. Last we week we were able to finish the relocation. On the first floor you will now find our law (call number P) and history collections (call number N). In the basement you will now find
- Pedagogy (call number D)
- Psychology and philosophy (call number C)
- Sociology and politics (call number M)
An overview of the new locations can be found at mediascout.unisg.ch
New location DVD / audio books
We have rearranged our audio books and DVDs in the basement near the journals. Previously they were strewn all over our collections, now you will find them all in one place to help you browse them more easily.
More study space
We want to make use of the space we have thus gained by upgrading it with new study areas. Until the new furniture arrive we have put in place provisional chairs and desks as well as some tall tables. Tall tables were requested several times on the speaking wall.
More week lockers
Starting on the first of September half of the day lockers will be converted to week lockers. Due to the lift of the ban of bags in the library last summer the demand for day lockers has decreased significantly. Increasing the amount of week lockers has been requested by library users for many years. More day lockers are located in the main building just in front of the university restaurant.
Goodbye Uni-App
Since early 2016 we have a new website which is optimised for mobile use, therefore we are withdrawing from the uni app. App content relating to the library will not be updated any further. For research we recommend www.biblio.unisg.ch. The search bar for the metasearch is featured prominently on the main page. Also you can directly access the metasearch, which is mobile friendly too, at www.biblio.unisg.ch/metasuche.
Renovation work in the library building
The library building is already 27 years old. Renovation work has to take place regularly. This summer we have, among others, replaced the lighting, the electronic controls for the window blinds as well as parts of the carpets. We will keep you updated on further remediation measures.
We wish all students a good start into the autumn term.
